Sharpe faces the murderous General Guy Loup to put an end to his criminal behavior. Their showdown comes at the end of fierce fighting in the battle of Fuentes de Onoro.

Sharpe loses his captaincy and his enemy Sargent Hakeswill reappears in his old company.

Napoleon sends the villainous Colonel Laroux to eliminate El Mirador, the top agent of Major Michael Hogan. Sharpe is severely wounded but is nursed back to heatlh and pursues the Colonel for revenge.

Sharpe is sent to rescue Lady Fotheringdale and another officer's wife from an army of deserters on the Northern border of Portugal.

Sharpe is wrongfully accused of a crime by a beautiful but treacherous lady - La Puta Dorada. He goes behind enemy lines as a fugitive to prove his innocence.
