ROBSTOWN (Sp)--Miss Edna Belle Perry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hayden Perry of Robstown, and Jack Rabon, son of Mrs. Sam Houston Rabon of Luling, pledged their marriage vows in a ceremony held at 8 o'clock Friday night at the First Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi. The Rev. Rodney Sunday performed the ceremony.
The altar and choir loft were banked with palms and large arrangements of Woodwardia fern, with Kentia palms flanking the sides. The chancel rail was garland with smilax, interspersed with white gladiola blooms. Semicircular arrangements of large white chrysanthemums in tall vases were placed against the background of greenery, with four groups of tall candelabra in which burned white tapers. White chrysanthemurns tied with huckleberry and white satin ribbons were placed on the aisle posts for the length of the white carpeted aisles.
Otto Moellering, organist accompanied Miss Roberta Struss of Columbus, Texas, who sang, "I Love You Truly" He also played the traditional wedding marches and during the ceremony, "Intermezzo."
J. M. Rabon of Luling, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and groomsmen were Robert Watson of Houston, Byron Potter of Tulsa, Ira Y. Blanton of Austin, Thomas Edward Perry of New York City, brother of the bride, and John Spears of Tulsa.
Miss Helen Dearmin of Fort Worth was maid of honor and Mrs. Glenn Hutson of Robstown was matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Misses Len Mewhinney of San Antonio, Betty Hodgin of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Mexico, Mrs. Jack Hanks of Palestine, Texas, Miss Nell Jack of Dallas, Johnnye Mary Perry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Perry of Corpus Christi and San Antonio, was junior bridesmaid.
The bridesmaids were dressed alike. Miss Dearmin in moss rose and the others in hydrangea blue. The dresses were made with closefitting, long basques of slipper satin, pointed in front and attached to the wide, full skirts of double net over taffeta.
Bridesmaids In Blue
About the square-V neckline and down the front of the bodice, extending around the hipline, was a decor of shirred braid, at the lower arm and full, at the shoulders. The junior bridesmaid wore a miniature dress like those of the bridemaids', in hydrangea blue, and carried a small duplicate of the bouquets, which were colonial in design of Finch sweetheart roses, with three shades of pink and blue ribbons gathered in clusters at the base. The maid of honor carried a bouquet of blue delphinium with shaded pink ribbons. They all wore circular veils with cornets of flowers, to match their dresses.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a wedding gown of antique ivory duchess satin, with sweetheart baroque neckline, the top encrusted with seed pearls. There were cardinal puffs in the shoulders of the sleeves which were pointed over the hands. The shirred bodice was gathered to a tight, pointed midriff which emphasized the neckline of the dress, and to the midriff was gathered with wide skirts, and the long, oval train fell from very full sirring at the back of the bodice.
She wore a coronet of pearl orange blossoms backed with scallops of Bruxelle lace. Over a long veil and cascades of ivory bridal illusion fell her veil of handmade, imported Bruxelle lace. She carried a cascade bouquet of white and yellow orchids and small gardenias, showered with stephanotis and French maline, and she wore a cameo locket, gift of the bridegroom.
Reception Held
A reception was held at the Nueces Hotel following the wedding and the receiving line stood before the entrance to the ballroom. In the line were Mr. and Mrs. Perry, Mrs. Rabon and the bridal party.
Mrs. Perry wore a dress of seafoam crepe, fashioned with V-neck, bracelet sleeves and fitted bodice with gold leather trim in scrools, with fitted and flared skir. Her hat was a matching draped turban, tiimmed in gold mesh and her accessories were gold. She wore a gold locket and her flowers were white orchids. Mrs. Rabon wore a gown of powder blue crepe, flowers in her hair and a corsage of the white orchids.
The Mirror Room of the hotel was decorated with palms and ferns, with fan-shaped arrangements of white chrysanthemums and white larkspur in wrought-iron stands placed throughout the rooms, and behind the receiving line and the bride's table.
The double wedding ring cake was surrounded with a garland of maiden hair fem, stephanotis, and gardenias, which also wreathed the tall, silver candelabra. Garlands of the gardenias were around the frozen punch bowl. Mrs. J. M. Rabon of Luling, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Merle Mayo of Robstown, served the cake, and Misses Lillian Ross of Corpus Christi and Mary Elizabeth Slay of Robstown served the punch. The bride's book was in charge of Misses Gene Dennis and Emma Clyde Horney of Robstown, and Miss Betty Bocher of Abilene.
After the reception, Mr. and Mrs. Rabon left for a wedding trip after which they will be at home in Dallas. Mrs. Rabon wore an ensemble of Como blue crepe, Forstmann sheer woolen, a dress simply cut with jeweled clip at the neckline, under a long, fitted coat of matching material, with flared skirt in front, bordered with platinum Russian fox. A matching jeweled clip on the shoulder of her coat clasped her corsage of yellow orchids.
Her hat was of Como blue velvet and felt with standup bow and a cmoke brown veil. Her accessories were of antique taupe reptile and her gloves of antique taupe doeskin. |
