Agatha's first husband Jimmy Raisin turns up on the day of her marriage to James Lacey. This inconvenience becomes even greater when Mr. Raisin is murdered!

James Lacey has left for the honeymoon trip to Cyprus alone and Agatha rushes off in pursuit. She gets acquainted with an ill-matched group of tourists and once again stumbles into a murder. Sir Charles Fraith turns up to add another complication.

Agatha takes on a free-lance job of promoting a local spring water product. The local town council is evenly divided over whether or not to permit commercial use of the spring. When the swing voter is brutally murdered, it is time again for Agatha Raisin to investigate.

Trying to recover her looks, Agatha goes to a hairdresser in Evesham. She finds Mr. John a wizard of a hairdresser and an attractive man. She begins to suspect however that he is blackmailing his clients and with the help of Sir Charles Fraith tries to find out the truth.
